Is this a 4.0L or 3.0L

Hey guys its my first post

I am looking at buying this Ranger but the owners are not sure if its a 4.0 or 3L. I asked them about the VIN number and they said the 8 letter was a V but the 10th was X. It kinda looks like a 4.oL but im not sure. I know the newer SOHC have the little plastic Splash guard that says 4.0L Im not sure if this one is new enough to have that.
You guys have any idears?

looks like a 3L to me. price seems steep for the miles it has tho.

Ya I was gonna offer less because of the miles. I really wanted a 4.0L so I dont know how interested I am now I know the Sohc started being used in 1998 wasnt it so if it is not a SOHC than it must be the 3.0L.
