blown head gasket i need my truck badly an i was wondering if theres a sealant that i can put in my raditior to re seal my head gasket an not mess my motor up...

You can try some GM stop leak tabs. I know that the Caddie head gaskets don't seal for crap if you don't put that stuff in. Coolant just pours out the sides.

It wont mess my motor up will it? have you ever tryed it an had any luck?

The guy i bought my truck off didnt tell the heads and the gaskets were cracked and he used a one time fix it, and it messed up everything, and i didnt know that and he sold me it. So I dont advise using the stuff.

There are some things from bar's stop leaks that claim to do miracles like fix cracked heads and blown head gaskets, I've heard everything from they completely cured all the problems to that they clogged up water jackets and shredded water pumps.

Well the tablets must be safe because you have to put them in at every coolant service on a Northstar. One of my friends used some sort of coolant stop leak for the blown head gasket in his lumina. He said it smoked like crazy for a while and then she was good to go. Drove it untill he got rear-ended and totaled it out. Soo I guess it could work, then again it could screw it up even worse. Dunno never tried it myself. :icon_confused: Barrs Stop Leak?

F it! Throw a half dozen or so eggs in the radiator and sell it!

J.K. I wouldn't wish that fresh hell on my worst enemy. for real tho short of replacing the heads or gaskets there is no quick fix. Between my Grandfather, Father and Uncle being mechanics I have seen all sorts of "I thought it would work and be cheap' fixes come into the shop and cost people hundreds of dollars in the long run.

That's it right there. You can try the fix all in a bottle crap but I highly doubt anything will work. The only way to fix it is to dig into it and do it.

I used those tabs on quite a few Northstar's when I was working at the GM dealership. They do work...but I wouldn't recommend them as a perma-fix.

Also...

GM uses dexcool coolant(don't think ford uses it), so it may or may not break the tablet down effectively by running it in normal coolant.

yeah GM is weird and uses that TERRIBLE dexcool bs crap... i've never had good luck w/ it on vehicles i've worked on.. but anyways. i don't recommend any of that stuff. it never turns out pretty. FIX the PROBLEM, don't cause more problems

There is a product made by Conklin called "Dike"

Best coolant band aid out there, and it will drain out with the coolant. Nothing beats it IMO.

Keep that in mind though, at best anything in a bottle is a bandaid. It will slow the bleeding and buy time but one way or another you will probably need stitches (headgasket and/or head)

I once saw MacGuyver plug a hole in a Jeep radiator by putting a raw egg in it. When the coolant heated up the egg solidified in the hole. Maybe try that?

If the GM tabs are compatible with regular green coolant I would try that. GM has sold lots of vehicles that break down, I trust they have good experience fixing them.

I've read some things about using "liquid glass" it's sodium silicate. Used in your coolant, it seals bad head gaskets. Used in your crankcase, its destroys engines. It's supposedly what they used to seize up the cash for clunker cars per Gov. regs before sending them to junkyards.
