Is there any way to test a fan clutch?

check for shiny oily leaks coming out the fan clutch to start with.

with the engine off try to spin the fan and it should have some resistance.

then run the engine until it becomes hot, turn the engine off and the fan should stop at least 2 seconds after the engine stops, 4-5 turns is acceptable.

if it continues to spin its bad

Thats how I knew mine was bad the car was getting warm on a slow dirt climb got out popped the hood and it was still spinning. The reason I wrote though is if they offer you a heavy duty clutch don't buy it its like its bolted strait on you sound like an airplane.
