Did ford ever make a single din cd player? I'd really like to keep the OEM look in the dash, but I haven't used a cassette tape since 1990. If they did make one I would really like to know what it came in and what year.

thanks.

Gah... now is the only time that I can't think of the company that makes "dummy" radios. They keep an original look by keeping a stock looking faceplate. Behind the plate is the cd player. There are companies that do it for classics, however, I don't know if they do it for rangers.

Perfect thats the kinda info I was looking for! Thanks!

The First "radio" pictured is a second player unit that only plays a CD, it it's a radio itself, it also has no amp, it plays through a premium sound radio that it's connected to.

the SECOND head unit pictured was first used in 1993 Ford/Lincoln/Mercury
vehicles most of which switched to the larger format radios for 1995.

Unfortunatly that head unit REQUIRES an external amplifier and they are a Royal PITA to wire in, but there's an easy way....

Get the amplifier from a 1992-93 Mustang (it's installed under the passenger seat)AND the harness that runs from the amp to the radio.

this harness plugs into the exsisting plugs for the radio (power and speaker)
and has the plugs that plug into the premium sound radio

Frankly I think you'd be better ff with an inexpensive aftermarket radio
because that radio won't play mp3CD's and won't even play most CD-R's
(it's not actually supposed to play any...

In reality I wish there was a way to fit a double in a 91 Ranger. I have a double nav/dvd system sitting in my room after I pulled it from the GTI.

Isn't that the same amp that is in some of the clunker Probes?
