Is there a size difference in std cab and ext cab seat dimensions?

I have a 90 std cab and I stuffed, due to lack of other suitables, 97 explorer seats into it.
There is little to no room for me to sit!! I’m tall and normally fit ok in a ranger but these seats are twice as thick and tall as basic ranger seats.
I have been hunting yards for seats but where I am good ones go long before I can get there.
So the question is (because I haven’t paid attention while trying to find a bench seat), are the std cab seats smaller or thinner than ext cab, year to year, because there is more room behind or are they the same seat??

This may open my market for replacement seats.
Thanks
Mike

I'm pretty sure the seats themselves are the same. The mounting brackets are different between the standard and super cab from what I understand.

Generally speak from looking at reviews of new seats at JEGS and Summit, the new ones are inferior to used factory seats. I am using 1995 Aerostar XLT bucket seats (I like the right hand arm rests) from an Aerostar I bought new in 1995 and with 190,000+ miles on them they are still okay and the height is about right. You might look at some Aerostar bucket seats.

The seats are the same within the same year/body style... could just be that your old seats were so worn that the foam collapsed? I felt that way when I went from a worn out bench seat in my '88 to a nice set of seats out of an '04... felt like I was sitting on the floor with the bench seat!

The seat tracks themselves are different. If you somehow used extended cab tracks in your single cab, there may be a small difference in the seat height above the floor.
