And the T-case is added? Just wondering.. seems to me it would be. but what do i know .:dunno:

Nobody but nobody uses the same trans 2wd vs 4x4. They all have differences to the output shafts.

the output shaft and tail housings are entirely different on 2WD and 4WD A4LD transmissions. they are interchangeable, but that requires complete disassembly since the output shaft loads into the case from the front not the rear. You can't just interchange the tail housing as the output shaft is different for each trans.

Thank you everyone! that is why I asked, I had a feeling but I wasn't sure.

Not that I will, but if a person called up a re-builder and said I need a "automatic transmission for my 4 wheel drive Ranger" They know this?

They should, but I wouldn't assume.

The more I read about the A4LD the more I don't want it or another! Arrrg!
