Is the '96 Ranger & '96 Explorer engine harness the same?

I really need to know this.

I replaced my 4.0 with one that apparently came out of an Explorer, and used the harness still connected to the donor motor.

My O/D light is flashing, and when I scanned the codes I got:

P0743 - Torque converter clutch
P0750 - Shift Solenoid A
P0760 - Shift Solenoid C
P1445 - Manufacturer Control (Purge Flow Sensor Circuit High Input)

The motor had a tag that said it was from a 96 Explorer, but all the connections plugged together. I'm wondering if there is a difference in the wiring in the harness on the Explorer motor vs the Ranger motor? I really want some confirmation before I pull the harness off and switch it.

I am going to go with no. I don't have part numbers in front of me, but the diagrams show a splice in the Explorer harness that isn't in the Ranger harness on the line for the TCC and SSA/B powers.

I don't know what it does or where it goes, but it is a difference in a line that effects three of your four codes.

I switched out the harness for the original Ranger harness. The P1445 went away, but I still had P0743, P0750, P0760 and picked up P0755.

I started checking the wiring and when I felt the plug on the side of the transmission, it felt slightly loose and I pushed it in more. Started it up and the codes were gone.

Thank God it was just a connection.
