well in that case... that's terrible. I get 17ish mpgs with my 4.0/a4ld/4.56's/32.5" tires

and Actually I had no idea how y'all do the MPGs in y'alls units of measure. I'm just an ignorant American that only knows my way lol... Like most of us.

you're 02 is the OHC right?
mine is the OHV motor.

Anyway.. the newer 4.0 Rangers I've seen get anywhere from 15-20 depending on gear ratio and driving habits.

I wouldn't think it'd be that low..

check your fuel pressure
what's your exhaust tip look like? clean or black?
is your check engine light on?
when was the last tune up? air filter, fuel filter, plugs, wires
clean your throttle body
clean your mass air flow sensor (do not use brake cleaner, use sensor cleaner)

Exhaust is clean and no engine light, havent done a tune up on it since i cant afford it right now. The rest ill try later, thanks

just keep us in the loop.. let us know what you find out. It might help someone else later on.

Yes, you are running real rich there, unless neighbor kid is getting a gallon or two every night :)

My '94 x-cab 4.0l 4x4 with over 300,000 is running at 14-16mpg, with canopy and loaded with tools.

Pull a spark plug see if it shows a rich condition.

Is the engine running at normal temp, just below 1/2 on mine?
Running cooler sounds good but it ain't, burns more fuel and has less lubrication.
So always use the 192-195deg Ford t-stat to get that temp up fast and keep it up.

I would also clean the MAF
