A couple of weeks ago I thought my starter relay went. I would just hear a click when I turned the key. On my older trucks that ment sylenoid. On this truck I'm not sure. I changed the relay and today it did it to me again. It seems only to happen when the truck has run for a while. I'm thinking its the starter. I'm not to sure. I'll check the ground first, but is there a relay on the starter itself.:icon_confused:

Has it been turning over slow? As a starter wears out it pulls more amps. It may be the heatsink causing it to pull too many amps and not kick over.

Two ways to check the starter are to hit it with a hammer or bypass it.

may sound dumb but check your battery terminals, if it only clicks sometimes they might be loose or corroded and wont let enough power through.(easy fix and should be done anyways even if it doesnt fix it)

mine would do that and then the door dinger would sound weak and sick, i cleaned the battery terminals and fixed it every time. my trk ate battery terminals and connectors for some reason, even ate marine brass connectors up w/ dielectric grease. never understood it, just kept a battery brush in my trk. after that check your ground cable on both ends, take the bolt out of the other end wire brush the wire and frame and reconnect. if its a 3.0 when you change the oil filter it drips oil on the starter bendix where the wiring is, it wouldnt surprise me if it was the starter for this reason. my trk went thru 9 starters so far cuz of this. hope this helps you man.
