If i remember right all 3.0 engines have the same bell housing pattern you just need to swap the intake right?
 
All 3.0 OHV Engines are essentially the same long block. These engines are known as the Vulcan 3.0. If you're using an engine from a fwd donor, switch upper and lower intakes, exhaust manifolds, and head gaskets to Ranger components.

Ford also made a DOHC 3.0 v6 known as the Duratec 3.0. It is completely different, and incompatible with the OHV Vulcan.
