So, I have always wanted wide tires, for floatation in my normal types of terrain. Tires cutting and sinking leads to diffs and axle dragging in the goop and that is lame. I was very excited to get some new rims. I got some 15"x10"wide rims. Now i'm becoming worried that 12.5 wide rubber (that I already had, for cheap, and will not last more than 1 summer) will NOT be wide enough for this rim. And, not only will I look ridiculous, but I will be inviting sticks and stuff to attack and damage my bead, on both the tire and the rim.

All you dudes who have 8" or wider rims, please let me know your current rim width and current tire width, and Are you happy with it? Pics?

I was running 12.50s on a 10 inch rim, and now run a 10.50 on an 8 inch rim on the zook, and 10.50s on 8 inch rims on the ranger. You will probably end up with trees in the bead. It seems like everytime I go out, I end up pulling wood out of at least one of my beads. Never had a problem losing a bead on either rig though. The Ranger I left up at 15 psi, and the zook I ran 5 psi till the tires broke in (LTBs) and now I leave them at 10psi. I would say you'll be fine for now, and if you don't like it, you only have to put up with it till you get new tires.

Those are 33x12.5x15 BFG Mud's on 15x10 American Racing rims.

I'm running 36x12.50x15's on 15x8's on mine. I like the narrower rims for the fact that they hold a bead better while aired down to single digits.

"is 10"s too much?"-my girlfriend doesn't think so!

the edge of the tread should be just out from the rim with 12.5's. sure its harder on the sidewall and bead of the rim,but the tires will wear better and your truck will be a lot more stable than with 15x8's.i think there should be more 9 inch wide wheels available

I run 35x12.5 ProComp Mudterrain tires on 15x10 Rock Crawler rims. I love the setup.

15x8s, 35x12.50s:

Very happy with it, wouldn't want a wider wheel (without a wider tire anyways).

I've run 33x12.5s on my 15x10 rims and 35x15.5s on the same rims with out a problem

Junkie that looks real good, THANKS FOR ALL THE PICS GUYS! approx 1000 words, lol.

I have no qualms about running these 12.5 wide tires, then later when I have used them up and have dug myself down and been hung up on the axle a few times I'm sure I will regain my desire for WIDE tires and probably pick up some 15 wide.

Again, thanks for the input fella's.

I know what you mean. I really like my Alcoa's but am planning for 33's or 35's for next year. I don't think 15x7 are gonna cut it for much longer.

im running 33x12.50 swompers and 15x10 rim, be for i had same rims with 31x13.50 swomper sx's and i have had no problems with them, dont even rub at full lock. but i have 4'' back spaceing. if you wheel you are gunna get shit in the bead, dosent matter what rim and tire you run, it happens to every one. good luck.

My friend is running 10s with his 35x12.50s on his zuki, IMHO I would find 8s since they'll hold a better bead and IMO look better.

My 13.50 wide Krawlers looked like ass on 8" rims, and they rubbed the radius arms at lock. They look a helluva lot better on 10's now and they don't rub the radius arms anymore.....fenders are a different story, until I get the prerunners on.

That is definatly a different tire than the Intercos I plan to run. But thanks for your input!

I think that is a key factor, how weather the tire is a 'square' more street friendly tire, or if it is more 'round' offroad oriented tire. I'll probably be running Interco's or Pitbulls on this rig, forever.
