i have a 2000 xlt with factory cd player. is there any way to hook up an ipod dock or 1/8 inch jack to run an ipod or mp3 through the radio? or would i have to wait till i got an aftermarket unit.

You can go with an after market unit. I got a Pioneer deck that you can hook up A USB, Ipod plug in. and input jack.

But if you want something now... Your best bet is a a transciever or whatever they are called... It is a device that you set at a unused radio station then set your radio to the same station and plug in your ipod. it sends the music via radio waves to your antenna then into your stereo. they are cheaper but don't give out the best sound.

^^ He's talking about an FM modulator. Add it to a factory or aftermarket stereo. It plugs into the antenna input on the back of the unit. You can use this with ANYTHING that outputs through a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, so not only iPods, but practically any mp3 player.

I have the following unit and it works great .....

I find it works far better than the wireless ones, which have a tendency to degrade signal quality and volume.

Yes it can be hooked up to the factory radio. PAC Audio makes an interface called the iPac OEM. You will need it and the correct cable for your truck. That cable should be AB FRD20.

I have used many PAC products and they do work well.
