]I have been subscribed for a couple of years. Lot of good info on here. This is my first post so I thought I would introduce myself. I am a diesel mechanic by trade specializing in Mack trucks. I have a 1988 Ranger 2WD 2.9 Roll a Long. I purchased used in 1992. Sold it to my Grandfather for a run around vehicle when he retired as Weber County School district Vehicle Superintendent. He worked his way up from a diesel mechanic over 20 years. He also worked as a Master Mechanic at a ford dealership. So the truck has been painted once and has the original motor and trans. It was given to my dad when he died in 2008. It barely survived my dad the accountant. I got the truck back 2 years ago barely running with the left hub rotor split and the wheel wobbling. I have fixed it and made it mechanically sound again, Using it as a daily driver 60+ miles a day. its a rusty dog but fixable. This year in Utah it qualifies as vintage and requires no safety or emissions. Vintage plates are soon to come. I have a 13 year old boy I plan to fix it up for his 16th birthday. Making it a 4 generation truck. I plan on putting a engine swap to a V8 so hope to have some input down the road. Till then thank you.
