Hey guys i am new obviously, and have owned my Ranger for 2 yrs & just moved to New Mexico, not by choice of course, but anyway was just wondering.......I went mudding friday night / saturday morning and had a blast but after a good 30mins of pure fun i got back on the road and the steering wheel vibrates at 40 pushed it to 70 for a few mins. and now it does not vibrate till i get to about 50/55. Is it the mud on the front end that is throwing the alignment off causing it to vibrate. It still drives straight as an arrow, was wondering? Oh i almost forgot to tell you, the mud was at the deepest 6-8" & i was in 4x4 high cause Low was getting to much traction. Oh i have Goodyear Wrangler RT/S P255/70R16 ( i think the "rt/s" is right & i know they are 16" but not sure about the "70R"). I am looking for new tires and suggestions? I have been liking the BFGoodwrench A/T OR BFGoodwrench Muddterrian Tires. I know i have to many Question but i do have more for later but these come first! And

Thanks in advance for answering!!!

Well first of all welcome to TRS, this a great place to come for help, anyways as for your vibration problem you might want to check and see if you lost a weight off of your rim, that could very well be your problem, but I am not the best trouble-shooter/diagonostic mechanic, I am just saying this because it happen to me while doing some mudding a few years ago, but maybe somebody else will chime in and be able to help you more than me.

Your wheel weight has been upset. Whether from added weight (mud) or from lost weight (tossed a wheel weight), it is out of balance.
You indicate a relatively large differential in weights (more than an ounce) due to the wide speed band.
Wash the mud off to see if that helps.

The weights are still on the rims. but i took a closer look under and it is caked on VERY thick at least 4", cause i cant tell what is what there is so much mud. but thanks for the advice. i will clean later today

with your question about tires:

BFG A/T are the way to go if you mud every now and then B/C they dont wear down fast on the road like BFG M/T do. My uncle has BFG A/T on his FJ Cruiser he had toyota put them on at the dealership and his FJ now has about 35,000 on it and his A/T still have over 75% of tread on them.

BFG M/T are great in the mud but they hum and wear quickly on the road.

tire rim
with your question about tire size: 255/70 R16

General Grabber's,GoodYear Wrangler's,BFG A/T, A few tires i'de recomend

Thank you Durham Racing!

I was looking at my tires and they are P245/75R16.

I will post a question about the best width/height & sidewall for my Ranger in another thread.
