I am getting an intermittant code 214 on my '94 mazda b4000.

Several links I have visited say its the cam position sensor.
Several other links say the '94 did not even have a cam position sensor.

Its 0 degrees outside, so I have not spent much time under the hood, but from my investigation, I can't locate the cam position sensor.

1. Does my vehicle have a cam position sensor?

2. If not, what can throw a code 214, and how do I diagnose the problem?

thanks for the help....

From Alldata:

Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 214 indicates an error has been detected in the Cylinder Identification (CID) input signal. The error could be due to a hard fault or an intermittent condition.

Possible causes:

Open or shorted harness.
Damaged Camshaft Position (CMP) /Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.
Damaged Ignition Control Module (ICM) .
Damaged Powertrain Control Module (PCM) .

If your truck is a California emissions model, it has a CMP. If not, no CMP.

Diagnose the possible causes in that order. If you are lucky, it could just be a poor connection.

OK...So how do I determine if I have a California emmisions model 1994 Mazda b4000?

Let's just say for the sake of arguement that I do have a CMP.
Where would it be located on a 1994 Mazda b4000?

Check the Vehicle Emissions Control Information sticker on the radiator support next to your hood latch.

If you do have a CMP, it will be at the extreme rear of your block, behind the intake manifold, where a distributor would have been in olden times.
