Okay, I know, another thread on seat swapping… Basically, I want to do a seat swap on my ranger. I have 2010 60/40 cloth bench seats, and I have read threads and articles on what fits. But my truck has in-seat airbags, and from what I can tell most of the seat swap threads don’t deal with seat airbags. I don’t know when the ranger started having these, but are there any other ford seats that have airbags and the same connector?

hmm, probably better to hit the junkyard and check out what looks good and has the bags. than you can just cut and replace the mounts

I think it was just 2010 & 2011 for the side air bags in Rangers. Thus why not a lot of discussion on them.

Not only will you need to see what Explorers have those but if the connector is the same. Then there is the question of rail compatibility as far as foot spacing and/or if the original seat rails from the Ranger can be swapped over to your new seats.

If your swapping to non-airbag seats then you can add a resistor to the airbag connector to trick the computer into thinking they are there & not have a dash light. I have a pile of resistors, just have to get what Ohms they are. I know its not your original question, but just some info if you need it.

FYI, a 2010 Mustang has the same connector. Likely 2010-2014 Mustang seats would have the same. The mounts are different, but the Stang seats do look good in there. 100% need a center console set up & fab some mounts, but I did try it out ;) I would assume Ford did not do many changes to the airbag seats, so anything in that general area is probably going to be the same.

Thanks for the info. I was also looking into ‘10-11 Crown Vic seats too or just having the stock ones reupholstered. As for the explorer seats, there aren’t enough 2010+ explorers in yards near me lol. I wasn’t even worried about the airbag light, but I don’t know if it’s just a stupid idea to remove airbags, I mean it’s just from the seats, right? But I’m going to look into Mustang seats now 👍🏽

lol, airbags would be nice, yes, but, ya know! A 3 ohm resistor is enough to trick the airbag sensor & there super cheap at amazon, fyi. Dash lights are annoying & you cant turn that one off with HP Tuners or Forscan. There was a computer change in the 2011 Mustang due to the O2 sensors becoming wideband (and the 5.0 needed more things). My 08 Ranger uses the same computer as my 2010 Mustang, so its likely to be the same from 2005-2010 for sure. Look to mod motor vehicles 4.6/5.4, full size trucks, IF you want to keep the side windbags with seats. (Safety, disclaimer, yadda yadda.. )

I want a seat/console upgrade too & the Explorers I find are trash so far that I found. The 60/40 split thing is bugging me, plus I'm tall so I sit too high in the truck to begin with! The stang seat mounts are very different though, but you could be creative with making mounts.

If the airbag light is on the system is disarmed and you basically have no airbags.

I need to add a resistor to my mazda6 for the airbag light. I out a nice velour driver seat in yesterday snd now the light is on
