interesting VHT question

so VHT paint, which stands for Very High Temperature, is a division of Dupli-color. This makes sense for the engine and exhaust paints they have, but why is nite-shades under the VHT name instead of being under the Dupli-color? The same goes for a few other VHT paints. Anyone have an answer to this because I find it very odd.

ive also found this same thing while looking for night shades for a customer. i dont really know why there is a serperation of the 2 but if i remember tomorrow ill call my paint dept or duplicolr rep. and ask them.

Hey guys, I work for Dupli-Color and VHT. Both brands are owned by the Sherwin-Williams Co. Until 2007, Dupli-Color and VHT operated as two separate brands owned by two separate parent companies. Both brands target automotive enthusiasts, so there is some duplication in product offering.

In 2007, Sherwin Williams acquired VHT and now Dupli-Color and VHT are managed together as sister brands. The VHT product offering has been scaled back since 2007 to reduce duplication, but where it still exists, it is to serve different markets. Dupli-Color is the leading brand in aftermarket retailers, while VHT has a strong presence in performance and motorsports outlets.

VHT Nite Shades is a very popular product that people recognize and ask for. The core of the VHT brand are high heat products, but the recognition and demand for Nite Shades, or SP999, as many people refer to it by is amazing. We find people referring to the application as "Nite Shading" instead of "lens tinting." Because of its popularity and recognition, Nite Shades will always be a VHT branded product.
