Transmission seized up, :shok:what years transmissions can be interchanged with a 1993 Ford Ranger, 2.3L, 5-speed, M50D-R1 transmission, if any??? Will a 1991 or 1995 work as long as its 2.3L engine?
Any help will be greatly apperciated!!!!

I know on the 4.0 motors they will so I bet the 2.3 all M50D will exchange but I could be wrong.

OMG please SEARCH!!! This question is asked several times a week. 1988 till mid-year 2001 will work. It must be from another 4 cylinder. If it's 2wd, the new trans must also be 2wd. If it's 4wd, new trans must also be 4wd.

The following will fit provided that yours is a 2wd according the Hollander Salvage Interchange index.

MAZDA B-2300 1994-97 M.T.; 4x2 - 2.3L
RANGER 88-89 M.T.; 4x2, 4 cyl
RANGER 1990-97 M.T.; 4x2, (2.3L)

The 98+ M50D tail housings do not have provisions for the VSS, but the output shaft does, so you can swap the tail housings and use the newer trans aswell. I am not for sure, but I am pretty sure the 01+ Duratec 2.3 has the same bolt pattern as the Lima 2.3 and 2.5.
