Intake questions

I thought they did. I don't remember specifically seeing one on a ranger, but I've been in the class room and not the shop since August and Ford puts those stupid things on EVERYTHING so I just figured it might be one there somewhere.

What purpose do they serve? When I get on it it whistles like crazy.

What a joke. The 4.6 in my truck whistles like crazy. I quite like the sound though.

For some reason the 4.6L like to whistle anyways all of the work trucks we had with them had that one whistling sound I could not figure out why.
