Whats a good sign that the intake gasket is leaking. (SYMPTOMS)

Coolant loss. Milky oil. Rough running. High vacuum under the oil cap.

Could also high steam on startup and possibly steam on shutdown be a result of this?

my stupid 97 ford ranger...eats about a quart a day of antifreeze...NO water in oil, no oil in radiator...but daggum it..it's going somewhere...then I see this

After a 17 mile drive (exhaust system nice and warm so not morning condensation from a cold exhaust) shut down truck...walk away, 45 seconds later it's belching steam...goes on for 3-4 min like this

Ok I did notice my oil had a little milky look to it and it does idle rough.

milky oils is NOT a good thing!

if it's not dark and gets that tapioca pudding color...that means you are getting water in your oil

Its not that bad on the dipstick just a little discolored. I noticed it on the bottom of the oil cap and the breather.

Yeah it is bad!

Bearings wear really quickly when water is used to lubricate them.

PARK that sucker and get busy pulling the heads off of it!

Got it tore apart and found that the back gasket was leaking on the intake. Pulled the valve covers and it all looked good. If any water got in the oil it was very little.

I'd still change the oil now.

Oh yeah I planned on that after I get it back together. Not taking any chances.
