Where to buy? Hows the zone? Advance? Napa? Dealer item only? I know you can get them at all these places, my concern is quality, this is not something I plan on doing again for the life of the motor.

Also, how do you know if the fuel rail gasket is bad? You know, the one where you need an e7 socket to remove? Since I'm there, is it worth it or just leave it alone? Thanks.

When i did my whole upper/lower intake manifold gaskets, I got the fuel rail gasket in the fel-pro kit. So I replaced it while I was in there. Now when I just had a fuel injector go bad a week or two ago, I just picked up a new gasket at the dealership for $15 OUCH!!!

But it was the only place I could seem to find just the one gasket and not a whole set. I also needed it ASAP so it was out of the question to wait for one to be ordered.

I have no idea how to tell if its bad, but if you do replace it, becareful with the fuel injectors. Make sure you use some lubrication on the o-rings so they dont get pinched and leak. Thats what happened when I did it the first time. I had raw fuel pouring out...

only reason i ask is i gotta change upper intake plenum and figured if i'm there i should change all gaskets, but for a 11 dollar plenum gasket, i'll take my chances and leave it alone.

Yeh if your just taking your upper intake plenum off, I would leave it. Why are you taking the plenum off anyway?

heh, funny you should ask. In a previous thread, I had a rusted PCV valve, steel elbow (you know the one that comes outta the plenum, turns 90 degrees and then connects wtih a rubber hose) and when I went to remove and replace, it broke off flush with the plenum. So, I cant get it out any other way, and I have a spare motor sitting in my field so i'll just grab its plenum and be fine. It just jacks me off the one in my truck became rusted, but the one sittin in the field for 2 years i pulled right out with my fingers and its like brand f'n new.

Ohh thats right I remember that thread. That makes sense now. Well good luck with your project and definitely do not go and pull the fuel rail off. While you have the plenum off, I would get a shop vacuum and vacuum all the crap that gets on top of the intake off.

thanks, i need to thoroughly clean the other plenum anyways, as its been sitting outside for 2 years in a field. All sensors were removed along with the throttle body so i'll just give it a quick hose out and it will be fine.
