Just wondering if this:

[Larger] was normal or if I have another problem. The entire intake (throttle body to valves) looks like this.
BTW, had it apart because of this:

Thanks in advance.

Has EGR? PCV? If it has either of those is is completely normal. In fact that looks pretty good.

I would try to clean it out as best you can. If you can find a place that sells AutoSolutions stuff they have this thing called "Optimizer", get that. Apply liberally, let it sit and foam, and then spray out with brake cleaner. Most of that will just run out.

EDIT: Part number is ASF-1650

No EGR but does have PCV. Thanks ADSM!

Didn't think this warranted another thread so maybe it'll be seen here. If you ask for the lower intake gasket for a 95 4.0 (Ranger, Explorer, Aerostar,... It doesn't matter.) Fel-Pro has a gasket that is EXACTLY like the Ford one. It's part number MS94682-1. The dash 1 is what separates it form the others.

Best part is it's cheaper than Fords. $40 at O'Reilly.
