Would insulating the cold (low side) AC lines under the hood hurt anything???

Also--
Fan control speeds are OFF, 1, 2, 3 and HI--- they all work-- but if I put the control lever on AC MAX the blower would go faster yet-- but now it does not do that.... I checked the motor and replaced the resistor assy. with a new one.

Any ideas appreciated!!!:shok:

RE: AC question-----------

I left out the model--- it is a 1994 Ford Ranger...............:icon_idea:

Insulating the low-side AC lines definitely can help, even the line after the evap unit & accumulator. This lessens the amount of heat absorbed by the lines within the engine compartment (and subsequently having to be dissipated at the condenser together with the interior heat already absorbed by the evap itself).

As for the fan speed, the Max-A/C setting has no bearing on the blower motor speed. What you might be noticing is the fan sound gets louder because that setting opens up a recirculatory air intake directly under the dash inside the passenger area (switching it away from the cowl (exterior) air intake). Perhaps that vent is no longer switching if you aren't hearing the fan noise as much.

I did some insulating on a 2003 Pontiac and boy it did help but it seemed like it had miles of lines right next to the hot exhaust.
