Instrument Panel LEDs

Any tips on getting the gauge face off? I head that if you just pull the needles off they wont match up ever again.

hey guys, anyway one of yall could put up a quick how-to? video or jus instructions. as the guy up at the top of thethread says Black Rain Cloud, well i may not be that guy, but there sure is heck one that follows me lol ive got 87 Ranger, so if one of yall has a first gen and trys it, pm me or somethin. im goin with red so let me know it works out!! btw the blue leds on the vid are kick ass!

I pulled the cluster apart the green film is the only thing on the back. The front is white. I took a qtip and nail polish remover abd it came right off just make sure you do it on a towel so it doesn't run off onto the black and white on the front I found out the hard way. I used the wlef from superbrightled but I got the ones with 5 leds for better coverage I accidentally ordered natural white instead if blue. I'm kind of glad I did.

There wicked bright and it gave meeeee the idea to tint the plastic with 20% so it looks blacked out when off to match my boost gauge.

I had nail polish run threw the hole for the stop pin on the tach and it took the white off the front so I blacked out the 0,rpm,x1000, k/mh and all markings for that clean look. I just want to find red needles for it

Im quagmire I f*ck hoes, my cash flow Im gigiddygetting it

I have been reading the pages but am still a little confused, I have an 03 ranger xlt fx4, and want to put red LED's behind the cluster but not sure what type of bulb would be best. Iv been looking on superbrightleds website. Any input appreciated

'03 and older trucks call for 194 bulbs.

:icon_thumby: i'd go with anything not directional led wise. the wled x5 is a 220 degree beam, not many hot spots. the xhp lights are 360 degree beams but cost 5 bucks a pop

@LoneWolf are you aware you were turning 7k rpm? or did your needles not line up right?

Instrument panel swap from 3.0 canadian into a 4.0l american truck = F'd up tach & temperature gauge.

There is a swappable 'chip' on the back of the clusters, with resistors and stuff, that I think will show the correct output when I make the switch.
And my LED connections need to be cleaned to allow a better conductivity.
It's cold outside, and I haven't bother doing any of that yet.

Ahh that makes sense lol. your cold and my cold are a world apart though. Down here in Louisiana once it hits 50 degrees you would think an invisible snow storm hit. i've got a couple projects i've been putting off because of it
