Instruction on Rear Axle Overhaul

Hey All,

I have been searching for a few hours looking for a good writeup on rebuilding my 8.8. I have yet to find a comprehensive write up on this. I am mechanically inclined, but because of lack of resources in a remote location I don't feel comfortable relying on my intuition. Does anyone know of a good writeup on the matter?

what do you mean by overhaul? new seals? bearings? gears?

Yeah, if it's gear setup info you're looking for, there's links right here if you check in the FAQ at the top here.

For general rebuilding of it (disassembly and reassembly), the factory Ford service books are probably about the best source of info you'll find (they're all over Ebay for fairly cheap... A great investment if you plan to have the truck for awhile, as well as also being a great extra perk for a potential buyer should you decide to sell it).
