Instant power loss, then snaps right back. Intermittent.


I have the EXACT same problem with my Ranger I just picked up. Just finished the clutch and slave cylinder replacement. Got about 5 miles out from my house and bam! just like that I had absolutely ZERO power. Then, like a light switch, I had oodles of power (well for a 2.3!) So what you're saying, the ICM was your problem? How did it get "burnt" like that? And where is that located?
 
ECU is located on the inside passenger sidewall, below glovebox area. My ecu got fried because of leaking water from above. Water got into the ecu connector, shorted out the electronics (and melted it) in spectacular fashion....
