So i have a 2000 trailhead and for some strange reason it did not come with an (omg i'm about to die handle)< i dont know what else to call it. Anyways i was just wondering what the best way would be to go around putting one of those handles in because my girlfriend, who unfortunatley was not blessed with the gift of height, has trouble getting in :/ well yea any help would be greatly appreciated.

That problem is easily solved with a small step stool. It's useful for other stuff too.

after we got back from our trip i decided to put some handles on the a-pillars because terra was getting as twisted up as a pretzel trying to get into the truck since these new seats have higher sides and you cant just slide up into them like she could on the 60/40 bench. i used 2" long 1/4" metal screws to secure the handles to the pillar, then i placed 1" steel sleeves with nylon bushings inside them to give the handle a firm spacer to clamp down on while leaving the interior trim pucker free.

I like the way the handles turned out, very nice, are they pretty solid if a 180 lb guy would grab ahold could he use them pull himself in the truck?

Stopped by the junkyard today and got me some handles:

Thanks for the pics offroadracing!! These things are kickass! Took me 15 minutes and cost me $15 for the hardware and handles :)

And they support all 250lbs of me easily too! Very sturdy. I couldn't be happier

Good install guys! Still don't know what option it is that puts the "Oh Crap" bars in. I don't have them in the '00' XLT 4x4 but they are in the 4x2 XLT. It does have power everything. Think they were in the 4x2 '01' Edge I had also.

Funny story, I have a couple tan Explorer handles I grabbed at Pick-N-Pull for this very reason. And now I know how:D
