Installed new TPS and now truck wont even start!

the IAC is the second new one in the past 2 days...so i dont think thats the problem.

nope no K&N...but its funny you say that because i was thinking i may have a bad MAF sensor which is what measures the air flow...whats the signs of a bad MAF? i did clean it however didnt help.

My truck seems to be doing the same thing, does anyone know how to test the TPS and IAC sensors?

oh and i do have another TPS coming from advance auto parts along with a PCV valve in gonna pick up in the morning.

I understand that you have a new IAC. But does unplugging after the truck has warmed up work? The problem may not be with the IAC but with whats telling the IAC to come on or off. And since the IAC is very basic solenoid its either on or off.

If you unplug it and the idle drops then the IAC is being told to stay on. and you need to figure out why its being told to stay on. As in my case where the EEC-IV computer was sending intermittent signals due to being pretty much shorted out. The IAC in my case was in perfect functioning condition. Replacing it would not have solved my problem. Same with the TPS when I finally found time to backtrack I found my EEC-IV computer was the real problem and not a sensor.

If you unplug it and the Idle does not drop then chances are its something else. Like maybe the air channel that the IAC controls maybe be plugged up with carbon.

You could just have your friend go everywhere with you... :)

well dropped it off at my buddies shop today and they drove it hooked up to a computer and the problem apears to be the coolant sensor giving a really low reading which is therefore consusing the truck and sensor which is in turn giving it to much gas when it is not needed causing the idle surge and the flooding when the engine is already warm.

i had thiss problem on my truck for about 4 months and then i did the wise thing and did a clean sweep of all the sensors from a good running junkyard expo iat/maf/iac/coolent temp swich /o2/tps/coolent temp sensor and a ckp and it ran great
