inspection failure

Some of those will fail an inspection. Is this at a state run facility or a private garage? If a private garage they will take the opportunity to see what they can fix and attempt to sell your their services.

everything is private, oh he complained that he wasn't making any money one me and that I would go home and fix it... the only reason I went was his shop passed it last year and let things go. but the new tech just went to the state run inspection class and he was told all these things now fail. go figure

anybody have a warm garage I can borrow?

Well, it's not warm, it's more of a parking lot than a garage, and its a few hundred miles away, but you can borrow it.

We have safety inspections here, but only when then vehicle is initially purchased. The only other inspection that would happen is if you're in a commercial vehicle. At that point you're dealing with the Ministry of Transprotation which is provincially operated. THEY will tell you that if it's on the truck...whether factory or option...it had better be working.

One day at driving school, I was doing the pre-trip inspection and noticed that someone had broke the front passenger shock mount clean off the truck. We brought the truck to the closest shop and they pulled the shock off. As long as it wasn't there, the ministry wouldn't say anything.

update

ok so I replace the steering box, radiator, put f150 clips to hold springs in, new center bearing, the spare tire cross member and took out the sway bar in the rear, along with new batter and a new rear window, had the exhaust buttoned up, and replaced the glass pack with a muffler and last night I get a message that I need cats. well went a spoke with him this am and said the same thing and told him the state site said 20 years and newer. even sent him the paragraph, well guess what? I'm right don't need them


so hopefully monday I will have an inspection sticker only what 3 months late!

I just got caught for not passing the leak-down test on my fuel system.

First time since I've had my license that any tech there has done that test to my truck.

They pinch off a fuel line and hook compressed air to a gas cap and pressurize the whole fuel system to check for leaks.

It was like watching someone do a cheap porn scene to the poor girl.

yup sent them already, and he agreed something about they had old paper copies or something... but he also told they spoke to the state inspector and he told them it failed... I'll need to find someplace new next year... or this...

Your sticker expirations are determined by your birthday???

It's like that here in Ontario too. Our birth month determines when our stickers expire. When you buy new ones, you can either get 1 or 2 year stickers. And since I live in NORTHERN Ontario, we don't have to subject our vehicles to the emmissions testing like southern ontario does

another twist

so after fixing everything I wanted to get the sticker and he couldn't see it till wednesday, now everytime I have gone back they will give a quick once over and trust you have done the work! he doesn't do that, so I went to another place I use and sure enough no cats no sticker, even though the law says 20 it also say with all manufacturers original equipment, called state back and was told to call the state police and same thing if it came with it had to have it, hell I even called the state rep to complain! told him what the law read and he was willing to sponsor a bill for 2012 to change at least the wording!

any ways he also tells me the right front bearing is also bad! go figure!

so they will check the bearing and get back to me with pricing
