Hey guys new to this forum I belong to powerstroke forum. But I have a question for you I have a 1995 explorer with a 4.0 I have bad injectors but I have new injectors from a 2000 ranger with a 4.0 will they they work? or am I s.o.l. Could you guys help me please. thank you scruffy89. ford rules.:headbang:

what makes you think you have 6 bad injectors?

Two are bad but i figured since it was apart I would change them all. Also they don't look the same.

if they don't look the same, don't swap them.

just get 2 new injectors that match your old ones

i also heard that u can use either mustang 5L injectors and/or ford truck 5L injectors aswell...as thinkin on grabbing some from pnp and throwing them in my 2.9L LOL

Nah, I'm with the OP on this one. I'd rather replace all 6 at once than take it apart several times. Especially at that age.

But no, the OHV injectors are different from the SOHC injectors. I don't know the exact specs that make them different, but I know they are and that it causes problems when you try to swap one in for the other. I do know the SOHC wants higher fuel pressure and I think that is part of it.

A 2000 ranger will have an OHV in it still, not the SOHC, that came around in 01-02.

A 2000 should have EV6 injectors. A 95 should have EV1...they wont fit.

As far as swapping to different injectors....most 5.0s have 19lb injectors, the same that you already have. Even if you do get bigger injectors, how are you gonna control them. Just installing them will make it run worse than before.

I have yet to see an actual "bad" injector.

but a 2000 will have a "returnless" fuel system, so that's a No-Go

I have some terrible ones out of an 88 F-150. You can have all 8 if I can get them out of the manifold and off the rail.

I may also have one of the leaky 5.4 ones in my box somewhere, I gotta look though. Might have pitched that one.
