injector rebuild

Am rebuilding a 1989 2.9 and am wondering if I should send the fuel injectors in and have them gone thru? Have no idea how many miles are on the engine but other than loud lifter noise the motor ran good. Cost around $20.00 per injector + shipping to have work done and hate to spend the money unless it is warranted on high mileage engine. Figure someone out there has had the same dilemma and am curious as to what they did. Thanks Jim
