I’m putting my engine back together and I’m putting the fuel rail and injectors back on ik I’ve asked a couple times before but everyone is telling me the same thing and it has nothing to do with my problem, I took the injectors off the fuel rail since I couldn’t get it lined up with them on and put all the injectors into their respective spots but no matter what I do I can’t get the fuel rail to line up with the injectors, do they need to be facing a specific way or what am I doing wrong

I can get all 6 injectors to line up but I can’t get the 2nd and 3rd injectors to go all the way in because the fuel rail is kinda tilted towards the driver side but I can’t get all the injectors to line up unless it’s tilted like that

Probably because the rail is tweaked

I'd be tempted to try and "tweak" it back.

I think that your fuel rail is simply rejecting the Eddie Lawson green valve covers. 🧐

Did you lube the o-rings with vaseline? I always have this problem but you just have to work it down in multiple spots slowly until it seats.

I have always installed the rail with the injectors loaded first. Get the injectors (with the harness unplugged) aligned best to slip into (all the hats with a dab of lube) the lower intake manifold. Then let it go in, it may need a nudge here or there but when all the injectors are in the optimum alignment, it just about falls in.

Now once all 6 hats are in the ports, it may require a some mild giggling and or giggling with pressure for the injectors to fully seat. Just be patient, have extra O-rings in case one gets nicked.

Oh yeah, I do this with the upper intake manifold removed. This gives me a greater ability to apply pressure when and where needed.

I did try this recently and found that even when doing the injectors first the fuel rail cannot reach to get the middle injectors on when the front and back ones are on so it’s definitely tweaked

I didn't mean to make it sound super easy. I've had my share of moments with difficulty getting the rail with injectors loaded in.

Another issue I had was the fuel rail mounting boss bracket was bent incorrectly. It took me awhile to figure this out. I had to align the mounting bracket bosses correctly before I could get the rail in position. I have never seen an actual 2.9 fuel rail misshaped, or "tweaked", just the fastener bosses in the rail.
