I have an '86 BII Eddie Bauer. I assumed that all eddie bauer's came with the center console and information center. I am having a hard time finding evidence that mine had it in there ever at all. Where would the wiring for the info center be coming from? the guy that owned this before me was a cook and like to mess with whatever wiring he could get his hands on.

My 87 Eddie Baure had the wireing running under the carpet on the driverside of the hump, up to under the dash. If the system was removed, I would think you should see some evidence of cut wires, or the wiring stuffed up under the dash in that area. There would also be a hole in the carpet between the seats, under the front of where the center console should be.

No evidence of that. Which is odd, because I see wiring under the engine bay that made me think it had it (windshield washer fluid sensor) I also dont have a low fuel light anywhere, which is why i thought it had it since that is where it could be. After pulling up my walmart console, there doesnt seem to be any bolt assemblies in floor. I wonder if I could just go find a console in a junk yard and install it after factory.

The console itself shouldn't be very difficult to install. The lamp out indicator module and harness may be another storie, if the supporting wireing isn't there. I took my console out and installed an Explorer console with the raisable armrest. I like it alot more. The lamp out indicator panel I relocated to the hole in my dash where the ash tray was. That took a little inginuity, but looks pretty good, although I really don't pay attention to it anyway. When it was on the console, I never looked down to see it, and wouldn't notice if a light was out or not.
As far as the low fuel light is concerned, I as a rule I never let it get below 1/4 tank before a fillup anyway (rules for living so far out in the sticks). And if I can't look down at my fuel gage and see I'm getting low, I probably deserved to run out anyway. By the time that light comes on, I'm already in trouble. (keep a gas can handy ;)

It doesn't seem to me to be worth that much trouble to find and install the whole thing. I'd go with the Explorer center console for better functionality. The one I installed was red, and I have a tan interior. Before I installed it, (while it was dis-assembled) I coated the whole thing with black plasti- dip. (even the cloth part, which takes several brush-on coats to get a smooth surface) It turned out so well, I've toyed with the idea of coating my seats as well, to get a nice weather proofing. I'd rather find some vynle seat covers that fit well, but no luck so far, and this would be an affordable permanent alternative. Especially if someone's padding is good, but the existing surface condition just isn't to be desired.
