so im wanting to change my fuel filter today i get into my manual look how to and first step relieve fuel pressure...so i find the inertia switch, go to unplug it and no wires run to it at all.....not in the bottom like everything shows not on the side no where im completely stumped and hope someone knows whats going on i really need to change this filter i would greatly appreciate any suggestions ....

btw if you can't tell by the name yr 1986 2.9 and its a 4x4 thanks again.

oh i forgot to mention it ran fine and still dose.

It may have been unplugged and jumped, that seems to be fairly common. The switch have been known to trip somewhat randomly or have otherwise proved themselves unreliable.

ok...then how do i relieve pressure??? any clue? appreciate your help sunk.

on your fuel rail, there is a shraider valve (looks just like a tire valve). uncap it and poke the little button in the middle. be prepaired for fuel to spurt out onto your fingers.

pull the fuel pump fuse then start up truck run it dry of fuel and youll have to cycle the key a buch to get fuel back into the system to restart .
goodluck

i didn't get a chance to change it tonight :( well the reason im doing all this is because i have a miss and i can't find it i pulled one plug wire at a time to see if it ran worse or the same and every single one seemed to run worse no now im hopping clogged fuel filter is causing this little miss any ideas would be great guys i really do appreciate all the help i've been getting even if im not putting out the results for all the help....

could be about a million things.

always start with the basics, spark plugs, wires, filters, vacuum leaks, etc.
