In tank fuel pump replacement

Anybody know the measurments for cutting a hatchway in the rear cargo deck to replace the in tank fuel pump.

I would do a 1 foot square just to have room to work.

Then roughly 2 inches down from the top of the deck for the cross cut?

I think so. What I am planning to do when I make my patch is to just drill holes from the bottom to mark my forward corners. The tank slopes down at the front and the floor can be accessed from the underside easily.

I figure I would cut out from the top center of the deck and then cut a oversize patch from a doner B2.Thanks Adsm08 for the help.

Fuel pump

I have done this it works great you will need a oversized piece from another BII for a patch ranger bed may work. You can change the fuel pump in a few minutes.

I'd drill about 8 holes, 4 in the corners, one in the middle of each edge, then get foam tape and some j-nuts and bolts. That's how the volvo sedans are.

That makes sense. I guess with my 84 it's really not that big of a deal since the fuel pump is on the engine, the only thing in the tank is the sending unit which sort of works, as best as I've ever seen them in these older trucks. Sometimes my gauge is right, other times its about 1/8 off.

The access plate though is a definite help regardless of which year B2 you have. If I had the access plate I'd definitely get in there and look into the cause of the fuel gauge fluctuation sometimes, just lots of work to drop a full fuel tank.

Just be careful of the fuel lines and wires. Remember to disconnect your battery too.
