I'm sure I got a short.

Okay once again we've gotten out of sink with what we're saying to each other.
Each time someone uses an abbreviation I don't know I have to look it up.
So what's pcm does again.

the pcm is the eec. when you pull the main ground and leave the power side of the battery hooked up there are things in the car that will always be looking for a ground.....there is keep alive power on various devices....the eec/pcm....which in this case is a eec4 can allow certain power back through the sensors like the maf ect....or there could be blowed diodes internally letting 37/57 juice stuff ect.

or. your icm power wire is broke and grounded somewhere and its completing the potential circuit....as it is the only ground for the keep alive crew.

From what I understand pins 2 & 8 should both be power i.e. hots or was I misled?

no....two is the ignition diagnosic monitor. it tells the eec/pcm engine rpm and the tachometer if you have one. it is essentially a ground and can backfeed

So when I had the negative cable unplugged and was getting power from that number 2 pin wire with my test light it was a back feed?

Ecm stands for engine control module right?

What does maf stand for? And what does 37/57 mean?

yes....pcm/ecm/eec in the case of this critter...are the same.

icm....is seperate.

the icm does not even need the engine computer to pop off. it is independant and basically fixed at 10 degrees to get things going.

start at the eec relay. make sure the dang ol thing is hooked up to pin 8 on the icm

mass air flow sensor.

your eec/pcm/ecm has 60 pins. the later unit...eec5 has 104 pins.

the 37/57 are the eec on power pins so the computer knows your ready to burn some fuel.

the big fat bastard yellow wire is also known as keep alive power....usually pin number 1....it is hot at all times.

but there are alot of other things that can be causing power when you dont want it ....

So how do I isolate the eec reply to make sure it's hooked up to pin 8?
Should I raise up the fuse box in the engine bay and remove the bottom of it?
That's where the eec reply is right?

Okay something on a little different topic for one second, why do I have to keep closing our forum talk and reopening it through my email to see the next thing is that you or anyone else says that I talk to on here.

not sure. i have a ...hybrid 93 harness in my 89 bronco 2.

they are out, near the firewall on the passenger side. and the test connector is with it in that case.

if its still oem ish...the fuel pump relay is generally green. one is black one is green and the other is gray.

i fleeced the fuse box from the 93 and stacked it with the 89 unit the 2.9 and chassis was using.

its called making the eec stand alone. simplest way to do an engine swap.....basically 1 wire.

i just refresh it.....usually surfing around anyway

How do I refresh it using my phone. I got no laptop or desktop. I'm using my phone.

Also I don't think anyone has put 2 & 2 together with all this stuff I'm asking and my user name.
Doug just got out. I did 20 years in prison. I just got out in June of this year. All of this stuff is way new to me.
