95 3.0, crank it up and it runs like it has no choke, play with the gas until it warms up and it runs like a new one. when it warms up smokes out the ext like oil smoke but has a fuel smell or oil smell to it. take it down the road, no smoke, let off the throttle and smoke, take off again and smoke for a few feet and stops as you near highway speeds. let it idle and no smoke, hit the throttle and get blackish blue smoke followed by lots of lite white smoke. have little vacc at EGR valve no matter where throttle is, motor has good power when you step on it. No blowby on motor, good power, 156k on motor. love this truck, what is the problem? i am not going to give up on this truck, i like this truck. What am i missing? What am i overlooking? Valve seals? egr? What?

If it don't like cold then install a new temp sensor for the computer... NOT the sensor for the gauge.

SMOKE! You have described a text-book description of worn valve seals! The blackish/blue smoke when hitting the throttle is just rich mixture from hitting the throttle and the valve seals.. again text-book!

Chances are good under those worn valve guides seals that the valve guides themselves may be a little loose as well. Only 1 way to find out & that is dig in.
