IM OVER it

my stupid auto hubs on my 99 ranger wont work half the time. i have to flip the switch back and forth to get them to engage good enough to work. most the time i will put it in 4hi and when i go to move i hear it pop out... anything i can do? cant afford manual hubs ..

well did it and works great now took me all of 5 mins by myself .. now i noticed in the pas side shaft there was about 1/4 inch of play in it.. wheel bearing or what?

i know on the older models there is a little bit of play can't remember how much but some play in the manual lockout hubs is normal. jack up truck and try to wiggle tire by grabbing top and bottom of tire and push in and out on top then bottom[ push top in pull bottom out and vice-versa] you should have NO play
