i have a 94 explorer with out a tow package so i built one. i bought a trailer wire set that plugs in at the left rear compartment inside the vehicle and a heavy-duty flasher for fuse pannel. the next day my batt. was dead. with my fluke meter i found i have a 12 volt-6 amp short. i removed the trailer wiring and installed the old flasher. didn`t help. i traced the short to the fuse box under the hood. i pulled each fuse and relay one at a time and still showed short. ?? i tried each fuse under dash and still showed short. everything on truck seems to work correctly-lights radio doorlocks etc. im stumped and don`t know what to try next. thanks for any help or ideas.

Try unhooking the alternator, I never had a problem with a ford alternator but a GM will do just that.

alternator

ya good idea. i tried that already as well as the starter. thanks though let me know of anything else. all ideas are much apriciated.
