i have 2 trucks and 3 engines. truck 1 is a 95 with 400k on it. it runs rough and is losing power. i picked up a 94 to swap to standard trans. ran pretty good so i kept the motor to put in #1. could not get the gear off the crank to change the front seal so it sat for a year or 2 under a tarp with no pan on it. was given truck 3 after it attacked a deer. i have just removed the power steering bracket and found differences. looks like a distributer was removed and the hole blocked off.
no external oil pump.
the boss where a fuel pump would have been mounted.
at this point i am concerned that this is not going to be a simple swap. the external oil pump vs the internal is my biggest concern. i'm too old to be doing much lying under a truck and too poor to be paying shop rates for anything. any input is appreciated
truck #1 is tagged 12/95. motor #2 is tagged 5/96 although the tittle said 94. truck # 2 is tagged 8/94.

update; maybe the oil pump is the same. i don't have the timing belt cover off yet so i'm less sure than i was 2 hours ago. but for sure the mounting holes for the a/c and power steering bracket are different. was going to talk pics but phone is over heated. gotta love living in florida!

in '95 the oil pump was relocated behind the AUX pulley instead of down in the oil pan, it also coincides with the crank sensor moving from just behind the drivers side top of the balancer to the passenger side of the engine external. When the crank sensor moved there was also a cam sensor added to the aux pulley. When the oil pump moved the dummy distributor drive thing was removed as well so some of the block changed around there.

Things can be swapped around but it will take work, the cam sensor is the hardest thing to work around apparently but if you have a good engine with the crank sensor on the passenger side use that one...

drat! guess i'll try putting the truck back together and putting a sign on the windshield. thanks
