I got a 99 ranger and half my dashboard lights are out... but when i turn on the 4wd tht lite comes on... but it dont engage... does any1 knw what my problem is? and what i need to fix? please help!!!!!!!

Half your dash lights are out? they probably just burned out. those need replaced.
Your 4x4 isn't working? I'm assuming you have the turn knob correct? My 99 4x4 isn't working right either I can engage it and it will work for about a minute then stop working. I narrowed mine down to the hubs or a vacuum line to the hubs. 98 and 99 rangers have what is called PVH (pulse vacuum hubs) where it uses vacuum to engage and disengage the from hubs. Its a really lame system there are a few things you can do. A. fix your vacuum hubs by finding the leak or bad part B. Swap over to a live axle setup C. Get some AVM manual lock out hubs D. convert your plastic vacuum hubs to be manual...
To narrow it down what does it do when you go into 4x4? does it not work at all or work for a bit then stop? do you know if the Tcase is engaging?
