I try to keep my engine(s) clean but cannot manage this level, hats off to you Sir ! .

Latest work on my Ranger is a new CARB approved Magnaflow cat and a rebuilt transmission.

I had just replaced the clutch 2K miles ago. The only thing wrong with the old trans was sometimes on a hot day it would grind down shifting into 2nd gear. I found if I shifted slower it wouldn't grind. So the second gear syncro was just worn. I grabbed another 5 speed from a wreaking yard and a friend of mine that owns a transmission shop installed new brass and bearings in the transmission. The new trans shifts great. The only problem is that it whines in 1st, 2nd and third gears. Someone probably ran it low on fluid and damaged the counter shift bearings. One of these days I will have new brass and bearings installed in the original transmission and put it back in.

When I first installed the rebuilt transmission I just used new Mercon. When I heard the gear whine I changed the fluid to Royal Purple Syrcomax to see it would help reduce the whine. I didn't notice any change. When I reinstall my original transmission I will probably just use Mercon. It's much cheaper and worked for 191K miles in the original transmission.

Thanx ! .

I don't have any whine so I'm using fully synthetic Mercon , seems to work well .

I installed the updated 93/94 Ranger oil pan in my Ranger per TSB 94-6-15. I was able to get the old pan out and the new pan in when I reinstalled my original rebuilt 5 speed transmission. I just removed the flywheel, block plate and lifted the engine 3/4" on the drivers side to have enough room for the oil pan swap. I've installed installed better looking American flag emblems on my door panels.

Sweet flags. Go 'Murica!

Sounds like a solid find for $2K. The 92 Rangers are still great trucks, and with some work, it'll be a fun daily driver. The Mustang’s gotta be tough to part with after 20 years, but sounds like you’ve got a cool new project to dive into. Can’t wait to see how the Ranger turns out!

Was there an issue with the earlier oil pans or just cracked it ? .

Ford changed the shape and width of the gasket channel. On the old pan some of the bolt holes go into the gasket channel, Ford also changed the gasket itself from rubber that would fall apart to silicone.

Gorgeous truck dude! I've got a 92 myself but she needs a lot of work. How are you sourcing a lot of parts for it? I've been having a little trouble lately
