Yesterday I got a 1990 Ranger, Extended cab, 4x4, 4.0L, 31's, Skyjacker class II lift. I paid 1200 for it, the 4x4 is out on it, and the guy said it works sometimes which leads me to believe its the shift motor on the back of the tcase or the push button in the dash. The truck has no major body damage, just some peeling paint, the inside is nice and clean, however the tint on the windows looks like crap. It just had new brakes all the way around the guy said. I know for a fact it needs new ujoints in the drive line because it makes a clanking noise, and from my 93 Ranger with the fender flares and the crazy paint job it made the same noise as it when you put it in reverse. It should be a fun little truck. Im curious as to how hard it is to convert to manual hubs, I looked in the tech library and seemed pretty easy, but I dont see anything on installing the shift lever on the floor? Anyway onto the picture, and No it does not have a cummins in it, the kid I goto school with thought it would be funny to put it on there.

Nice ride Ryan. I think you are confusing manual hubs and manual transfer case. You will need to get a manual transfer case if you want to put a shift lever on the floor. But yeah, the manual hubs are an easy swap. Manual trans/manual t-case/manual hubs is the best way to go IMHO.

That would explain that, lol. Thanks for the help! I didnt think about that... Im a little hungover. :icon_twisted:

What happened to the other Rangers?

This one looks really good for what you paid!

that sticker is boss, keep it there. cummins > rest.

Cummins makes a great motor, but it's what surrounds it that sucks. It's like taking a dump that's got a diamond in the middle. You can polish away on that turd, and even put something shiny in it...... but at the end of the day, it's still a turd.

That truck looks to be in really good shape...I would have bought it even if it had a go-ins sticker on it...then you'd know you was cummins or go-ins...

:icon_rofl:

Oh, wait, I've never actually tried to polish a turd...my piece of carp will never be polished...

my dads 2004 cummins hasn't had any problems ( major), other than the u-joints going out fairly often, and the PS having a like pinhole leak, nothing major. only have had 2 sets of tires on it, and it's got 166k miles on it, no tranny problems yet, but it is an auto.

Another beautiful Ranger Ryan... I guess living south of the rust belt has it's advantages.... What did ever happen to the other two?

Thanks Guys!

Well, my 1989 Black single cab I sold to my cousin because her car had just broke down and she was in need of a reliable vehicle to get her to and from work, so I sold her that. After I sold it to her I bought my 93 Ranger with the flares and everything, and I was out four wheeling and the a4ld trans blew and in the process of getting it out and home I blew every gear in the trans including reverse. When I got home I was so angry that I called a guy and told him to come get it and bring me 800$ and to just get it out of my garage. So in spite of being angry I sold it when I should have fixed it... Yes, I regret selling it I had some great times in that truck. So for the last couple months Ive been driving our families 1999 F350 7.3L Powerstroke. :icon_thumby: but as of last weekend Ive been wanting something I can take off road more easily and more places than the powerstroke, so the end result was this new Ranger.
