Its a 2000 ford ranger. V6 4.0 2wd. Automatic
Revs out fine in park or neutral but soon as its in a drive gear it shimmys and goes about 2 miles an hour. It doesn't appear that pushing down more on the gas pedal makes any difference as far as the rpms goes (not 100 percent positive on that. Its been a few months since I've even sat in it but I can find out if needed). The shop its at has replaced coil pack, plugs, wires. None of it made a difference. Its not the cats. Its not the mass air flow sensor. There's no leaks on the intake manifolds. Fuel pressure is fine all the way around. It does have kind of hard shift into reverse and a little harder when shifting into drive. I can get more details in reguards to what is or what isn't working. The current shop its at is at a stand still. Their wanting me to send it to ford to be raped. Any suggestions. And i got to be honest i cant pay you but i could really use the help....anything!!

Is it an automatic? If so, maybe something is up with the Internal Valve body?

Sounds to me like your forward clutches are gone. Take it to a tranny shop for a free diagnosis. Does it finally engage when it gets warm?

It is an automatic but I just had the transmission replace. My personal diagnosis was the tranny too. Overall in goes into every gear and does move just very slow and shakey.

is there any other strange noises coming from ANYWHERE? and if its an auto what do u mean it goes into every gear? you hear it shift? or you manually but the selector to 3,2,L? if u manually put it in it will still start off in 1st. could be clutches. did u check the fluid before you started driving it after X-months? i made that mistake with my moms blazer.. destroyed 3rd. AAMCO free diag! then scrapyard or craigslist for parts :D

It does everything its supposed except move really. I can manually shift it from park to reverse to neutral and so on, hear it shift with a slight clunk noise and it will go forward. I already took it to a tranny shop they rebuilt it and were unable to road test it due to its current state and the engine itself has less than 10000 miles on it. It too has also been rebuilt.

I would make them tear it down and go through it. Did they give you a warranty with it?

+1 on the tranny shop kinna sounds like the oil pump in the tranny or maybe a plugged or kinked oil line to the cooler. Did you install the tranny or did they was the pump lined up proper with the converter defore it was slid in place.

Ebrake stuck in place?Even though you have released it the internals might be jammed up somehow?
