I'm looking into selling the beast to pay for college.

this pic is about a year old but nothing's changed since then.

It's a 2002 ext cab step side
188k miles
auto 4.0
power windows, locks
keyless entry

Only upgrade I've done was replace all 4 shocks with bilstiens

Broken stuff:
abs is broken
Drivers side key hole doesn't work
A/C don't work
Valve covers leak sometimes

What would you sell it for?

ABS and AC not working is going to kill ya big time. Even then, you got a ton of miles (it sucks I'm in the same boat with 185k). Unless you already have a second car to replace it, I wouldn't sell it. You won't get enough back to really justify it.

according to autotrader about $5K on a quick sale............. stupid buy here pay here dealerships driving used car prices through the roof

What is up with that.....mom and dad won't pay for it? You can't qualify for a student loan???? Lame reason to sell the truck.

with those problems, and considering its a high mileage truck with a shitty auto trans, maybe i would list it a 3500 and be happy with 2700

Fix the issues, provide repair records and a car fax and maybe you'll get more for it. If I were looking for an RBV I'd want one to start up and drive, not repair on the 1st day but that's just me.

I think it is a good reason to sell the truck. Keeping out of debt, and some of us had to be responsible for ourselves. Having a truck in college means your going to get a lot of "buddies" who need help moving.

I agree with the above poster that your not going to get what you would like since it needs repairs and has that mileage with an auto transmission but the whole clunkers thing drove up prices (I could sell mine for more then I paid for and put into it).
