alot of guys mentioned the AR platform and made me think whats the best calibers to have in the states as far as easy to get
Rifle: 5.56, .223, 30.06, .22LR, 7.62x39, 7.62x54r
Handgun: .45, 9mm, .40, .22LR
therefor any thing to get is best in one of these correct?
thoughts on that?
You missed another important military chambering, the 7.62x51NATO aka "308 Winchester.
But don't simply gravitate to military chamberings, there are commercial cartridges that are nearly as common, 30-30, 7mm-08Rem, 7mmRemMag,
300WinMag, etc...
As for defensive pistols I prefer 1911 based pistols, either Genuine Colt or Kimber...
in a bolt action rifle there is the either the Remington 700 or "everything else"
I can say essentially the same thing about pump action shotguns.
While I still have my original Mossberg 500 shotgun, I also have THREE
Remington 870's........... all in 12ga.
Don't forget that along with commonly available ammo you also want a firearm you can get replacement parts for.
And there simply isn't anything more common than a 10-22, 1911 based pistol
remington 870 or a Remington 700 bolt action rifle...except for cheaply made AK47's.
while military looking firearms are cool to look at and cool to play with,
because of adverse propaganda they are commonly thought of as "evil".
There is little in this world less evil looking than a Marlin or Winchester rifle.
I mean John Wayne carried one... right? (The gun grabbers play mind games, and so will I, but I'm better at it and since perception is a two edged sword you might want to wait a few decades and ask them how that two edged sword felt going up their ass
