If you had to start from scratch, what 3 firearms?

Id stick with a CZ-75 compact .40 caliber. Its a steel upper AND lower, none of that lightweight crap. Its solid and accurate point of aim right outta the box. My other choice would be Taurus pt-99 9mm, Taurus bought the San Paolo, brazil berretta plant and basically improved to perfection the beretta 9mm. I never had one misfire or failure to eject with it, including hollow points and hydroshocks. The 9mm still has a pretty big grip though for small hands the CZ fit my grip way better than any gun. Its a 6 month wait list for new ones, but used ones are inexpensive and a great buy. Other than that I would go with some kinda of bolt action rifle, the 22-250's are great target, varmint guns and despite the common BS when properly employed can kill anything quickly. Should you come up against and violent trophy moose or something lol.

As far as tha AR version of th M4, I carried one for 5 years, 2 in the desert and I dont have any complaints.

Glock 17 - Side arm
M4/AR15 - Gotta love the assault rifle
Remington 12 Gauge Pump - also known as the 'shyt your pants gun when entering a house illegally at night' gun

sks, dependable as hell
sig saur p229
semi auto 12 ga shotty

I would take a henry 22. LR lever action (cheap, accurate ammo)
a Colt 1911 .45 ACP (My favorite pistol behind old fashioned-six guns)
and a Desert Eagle with all caliber options (you can just change out the reciever and clip to change caliber)

And feellnfroggy I am going to assume you served in th U.S. military, for you and any others who have served in the military, law enforcement (like jim oaks I think), and fire dept. and medical response, I thank you all for your service, In my opinion I think you all should all get at least free license plates, tags, ect. and a coffee mug each year. :icon_thumby:

I'd probably go with the three, of mine, that I use the most.

For carry, I have a Charter Arms .38 SPL, that I inherited from my great aunt. It's small, reliable and easily concealed/drawn. Doesn't hurt that it holds 5 158 grain JHP's either.

For small game/home defense... I'd go with the Franchi I-12. Semi-auto 12ga that holds 5 3" magnum shells and comes with multiple screw in chokes. Light to carry, low recoil and shoots every time.

For hunting, I'd go with my AR-15. Has a 16" heavy barrel, 2 30 round magazines and shoots 3/4" groups at 100 yards. You don't need a large caliber rifle if you can pop a deer/bear/hog in the head at 100 yards. :icon_thumby:

are we talking about urban warefare or survival?

I was thinking survival, nobody except a neighboring town during homecoming night will ever invade where I live... and they are usually pretty peacefull.

A AR-10 type rifle in .308,not the very best round but easy to get ammo, accurate and hard hitting. A .45 1911A1 type pistol and a Riot type 12 ga. pump. A .22LR is also a good choice when it comes to survival. Last year I asked my dad about getting a gun from him and he asked,"What do you want"? He has many but only being able to choose one I picked a old Stevens double barrel 12 gauge. It can be used for defence or hunting nearly everything/anything.

Actually in TN I get an OIF plate for 4.00 more than reg price. Not free, but nice that they offer one. I think the purple heart and medal of honor winners get free plates.

EDIT:: I never see anyone else backnig the CZ model of pistol, am I the only one who has shot one and liked it? Has anyone else ever fired one? And for survival use, I forgot the name of this too. Its the 5.56 (.223) bolt action wooden stock. I cant for the life of me remember the name.

1. JC Higgins bolt action 12 ga., 6 shot tube mag. very heavy duty, very dependable, carries enough rounds, no clips to loose, cut the barrel to fit your needs.
2. High Standard Sentinel Mk. I, .22lr, 4in barrel. tightest lockup on any revolver i've ever seen in any caliber, 9 rounds, very accurate.
3. either Ruger 10/22 or Remington Nylon 66. both are light, accurate, and dependable. Nylon 66 is very accurate and rugged right out of the box. Ruger has way more options for making it suitable to your needs.

I had a CZ 40B but someone offered me more than I could refuse for it and I sold it.

It was a great pistol. My 7 year old nephew loved to shoot it.

I like having a pocket pistol.
Agreed. That is why my first choice is what it is.

1. Ruger LCP .380

2. Mossberg 500 w/ Rifled Slug barrel and a field barrel

3. Smith & Wessen M&P-15 (5.56 NATO)

1. Beretta 96FS. I already have one, and it's fairly customized. I have several thousand rounds through it with only two failures - one was due to a bad primer on cheap walmart target ammo, the other was the first time I installed my match grade barrel, and the "failure" was when I tried to chamber a round for the first time with the new barrel, and the round jammed. The feed ramp was the wrong shape so i went back to the stock barrel until I can get my EFK barrel machined out a little bit, I still haven't shot a single round through that barrel, but the failure counts, I was intending to fire. I've also been trained on the M9 which is the same thing with the same controls, but is 9mm. I'm damn confident with this pistol, and damn confident in this pistol. I also have a crossbreed horsehide IWB holster for it, and can hide it effectively in a t-shirt and shorts. You can keep your pocket pistol noisemaker.

2. Western Field XNH-806 .22 bolt action single shot rifle. This rifle is lightweight, and mine is very accurate. Gotta eat somehow, and .22 is cheap and plentiful. Plus, you can carry more ammunition.

3. Colt M4 MWS. I'd add a reflex, rail light, and call it good. I can group well at 300 yards with iron sights with this one, and again, it's what I know and can use in my sleep, so I'll stick with it. I don't own one of these, though.
