My little Ford Ranger has been giving me tip offs lately. First the clutch on the first week of Decemeber. Got that replaced and is good for another 100k miles. Then this last Sunday when the truck failed to start. Thought it was a dead battery, got that replaced with a DieHard Platium. But still the same problem. After testing a few leads with the voltmeter, I found out that the pos+ terminal wasn't making good contact anymore. Fixed that, and now the Ranger starts up better then it every did. Even when it was 15*F today. But now on the way home, I hear this clicking noise. At first, I thought I left my blinker on, nope. I started to home on the noise and noticed it clicked faster with speed. Then I realized, my odometer stopped working along with the trip meter. The up side to this, I have a spare Explorer cluster in the attic to rip the odometer out of. Just gotta go through all the work to get it installed and have the new odometer match my current one. Besides, there's a grass clip, a smudge, and fog stain inside the cluster that I always wanted clean out. And would be the best time do that.

And naturally, its that time of year where bills seem to hit me the hardest. I figured with all payed, it leaves me $27 in savings until Friday. :annoyed:. But at least I get to pick up my new S&W 629 Classic this wensday. :D. So I think I will call of sick wensday, pick up my S&W 629 and fix the Ranger. I pray nothing else brakes.

You said it! I read it exactly the same way as MAKG. Sounds like a premeditated act to me.

BTW - At fifteen degrees the only think you would have heard "clicking" if I was around was my teeth. How do you guys live in that stuff?

15 thats warm lol it was -3 out last week an i work out in it in just a hoodie go figure..

thats why the block heater on my diesel is a god send, I hit my remote start, run to the truck and its warm

15 above is warm! It's been around 10-15 below here since last weekend. The windchill makes it around -50.

we use body heat to stay warm ...... why you think we got so many kids

Okay, yes its a premeditated thinking. But once in a while, its good to take the day off. And if anything, I'll just tell the truth.

Heres the little bugger I gotta replace. Really simple once I can get to it, just gotta pop out the old drum a replace it with the correct drum.

Thought I would just post back saying that the odometer works again. Found out that motor wore-out. The gears were perfect condition. So after 7hours worth of work and redoing the cluster twice (Speedo was off 5mph first try). I'm now happy that everything is working and the speedo is now within 1mph of GPS speed readings. :icon_cheers:

Lessee. New gun. Dead Ranger.

It's so obvious....

and I'm sure VERY tempting.

Problem is, you point the .44 Magnum at it, grin with anticipation of the satisfaction you are about to be flooded with, squeeze the trigger and -BANG-....

Little bity hole in it.

:annoyed:

Very true. A good rule of thumb when considering things like this is, every problem can be solved with dynamite.

For example, speedo motor getting you down? Blow it up. Wife pissing you off? Blow her up. Tree fell on your house and you have no chainsaw? Blow it up. Etc. :D

That should not be too much of a problem. Since I deal with model rocket engines. Thou a wife and tree would pose a problem.

Its fixed, what more can I say. Now I just need to fix a rattle and the door handle. But those can wait, unless the door handle breaks off tomorrow. It never ends, does it?
