Tomorrow I will have my Truck up and Running.
I will have a New (to me) 2.9L with 44k Miles on it & a New Clutch.
I have to say I have acquired sooooooooooooooo many new tools and what not. My Knowledge of Engines has increased greatly. Honestly I dont think I could have done any of this without all of you guys on TRS. So thank You veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy much!!!!! :icon_cheers:

Also I have a Torque Converter if anyone wants to buy it? Super cheap.
 
Cool to hear Ryannn. I been working on cars and trucks for 25+ years and this site helped me a lot when I got my Ranger 2 years ago. I have had 35 vehicles but most was GM so I had to learn quick to get my Ranger running good. I'm thankful for TRS also :)
 
It wont be done for another week or so now sadly. My Headers broke waiting for the new ones to come in. I might just replace my whole exhaust with something cheap for now.
This is my 2nd Vehicle, My First was a Saturn that my dad bought me a year ago. He bought it cause it got 30 mpg. When he brought it home I asked if I could take it offroad.. He said yeah its yours. I took it offroad and I destroyed it. I came home and said My car doesnt run and isnt tough enough for me to beat on. So thats how I got my Ranger! :D Im 17 and Ive only been working on Cars for 4 Months? Maybe?
 
Engine swaps aren't that bad. Even for an amateur. Head gaskets are much much worse. Especially on an interference engine.

I'll give you some major props for going for it and swapping your engine though. Not everyone has the balls to just tear into their vehicle and try it.
 
I think it has all been relatively easy, I thought it would be alot harder. Swapping the Engine has been easy pretty much. When I want more of a challenge Im going to swap the 4.0 in. Then I Think I will be F'ed! Haha

mine nag me all the time "done yet?" "how long?"

most of the time its one of those damned *simple* jobs that can turn into a shitstorm in an instant.

like last week i had a 10minute fan clutch R&R that turned into a water pump and timing cover job lol.... before THAT it was a front brake job that turned into a leaking radiator being replaced where i noticed the fan wobbled like crazy

Oh I have that beat.

Leaking head gasket on an 08 Fusion. Leaked oil externally. Take the engine out, take the head off, check the head and block. Head is nicked. Can't deck it without causing issues, so it needs a new head. Told the parts guys to order a head. The day it was supposed to be there I find out the order was never submitted. So we get it ordered for real. It gets there, and it's been dropped. The edge is all mushroomed up.


Or the one that came in for an oil leak. Oil pan gasket. Gotta take the cab off. Get it down that far and then we don't have a stand heavy enough to hold the engine. Ordered it twice and it showed up a week after I finally finished and shipped the truck.
