I have a 4.0 2001 ranger. when i start it in the mornings while the engine is cold the idle lopes and somtimes almost dies, i have checked high and low for vac leaks, and found none. I have also replaced the TPS. any tips would be appreciated.

Most times the problem you describe is solved by replacing the temp sendor to the computer... NOT the temp sendor to the temp gauge.
Seems lots of times it is telling the computer the engine is already at temperature and the system is too lean and the timing is too advanced.

wher is the computer temp sensor located??

Both are right there at the thermostat. Mine on the SOHC are under the top radiator hose to the engine outlet.
